Your 10 months old baby has improved taste buds. Now he can easily differentiate between the foods which he like and the ones he does not like.

But this time he must have made his mom realize the favorite food. Along with the taste, mothers should also take care of the nutritional factor of the food provided to the baby.

The thinner purees can no more be his favorite. He would now look for the food with improved taste.

Essential nutrients required in this month

It is time for your child to get almost all types of nutrients. This is absolutely a growing age for your baby. Each and every step which your 10-month-old baby takes will be worth mentioning.

Iron is an important mineral which your baby would require. You can see many children of this age suffering from anemia. Lack of iron can lead to the same issue for your child.

Magnesium is another vital part of nutrient which your baby would require. This will help your baby get stronger bones. Also, his heart rhythm will be stable with the consumption of iron content in food.

This is also a stage when your baby’s immunity is not so strong. In order to make it strong your baby requires an adequate quantity of magnesium.

Sources of nutrients

It is important to find out whether the food consumed by the baby has enough nutrients in it. Thus, the sources of nutrients will be important to find out.

Cheese- You must have observed that your baby is very well inclined to the consumption of cheese. This is really beneficial for your baby as it contains protein. It helps your baby to build muscle and mass.

Cakes and biscuits

Some people have the habit of feeding their child with anything and everything which they have been consuming as an adult. But, all are not suitable for a child who is just 10 months old.

The cakes and heavy biscuits have saturated fats that might be harmful to your baby.

Raw shellfish

Some parts of the nation have a tradition to have shellfish in raw form. These are basically those areas where the sea beaches and water bodies are seen. But, even if the adults take in, for a child it will be really poisonous.

Your baby may not be in a state to digest it and give rise to food poisoning. You must absolutely avoid this food when it comes to feeding your baby.

Low-fat food

If you are cautious about your health and you are consuming the food with low fat, it is not that your child also should have the same food. For every child, calories would be an important factor to consider.

You must make sure your child intakes appropriate calories through food. This can be absent in the low-fat food. You must go to normal food with fat.

A simple diet plan for each week

Monday

7 am- 8 am- formula milk or breast milk

10 am – grated apple with steamed rice

12 pm- ripe papaya

2 pm- chicken broth with rice

4 pm – formula milk

8pm – dosa with sambar

Tuesday

7 am- 8 am- breast milk

10 am – oatmeal porridge

12 pm- banana slices

2 pm- rice with fish

4 pm – chicken soup

8pm – formula milk

Wednesday

7 am- 8 am- formula milk or breast milk

10 am – egg yolk with toast

12 pm- formula milk or breast milk

2 pm- vegetable pulao

4 pm – formula milk

6 pm- chapatti with bottle gourd curry

8pm – formula milk

Thursday

7 am- 8 am- breakfast with breast milk

10 am – dalia milk

2 pm- khichdi

4 pm – formula milk

6 pm- chappati with veg curry

Friday

Suji Halwa

Ingredients

  • Suji- 2 spoons
  • Milk- half cup
  • Ghee- 1 teaspoon

Procedure

Take a pan over the oven and let it heat. Now add ghee to it and add the suji. Use a spatula to move the suji over the ghee. Do this till the color of suji changes to brown.

Also, you can get a nice smell of suji and ghee. Once it is done you can add milk to it. Again use the spoon or spatula in a round direction and make a pulp out of it.

You can add pureed date for sweetness. Then you can take this down in a container and make your child have it once it is cool.

Mixed pulao for baby

Ingredients-

  • Jeera or cumin seeds- 5-6
  • Unpolished rice- 3-4 spoons
  • Vegetables- chopped
  • Salt and turmeric

Procedure

First of all, you need to boil the rice and cook till it is eatable. Once it is prepared, take a saucepan and add little oil in it. Now add the cumin seeds, turmeric, salt, and chopped vegetables.

Saute it till the vegetables are cooked. Once it is done add the cooked rice. Mix them well and go ahead with frying it. Keep it under simmer flame for 5-6 minutes.

You can get it in a small bowl and make it cool to such a temperature which your child can tolerate.

Diet tips

  • While feeding or making food for your baby at this stage, you need to make sure that your baby gets an adequate amount of calcium
  • At this stage, your baby would prefer having pureed food instead of a lumpy variety. Try to make him consume the same.

You should also make your baby drink an adequate quantity of water along with the liquid food as well as solid. But, make sure the water is purified. If possible give him boiled water
