Baby Games – Month 8

This month encourage her developing her visual, sensory and listening skills. She will try to says words like “mama” and “papa”. Play games like shadow puppet with her.

This will engage the baby in learning new skills.

Game 1: Shadow-Puppet Play


Purpose: To build visual tracking skills

Create your own shadow on the wall which the baby can easily see, and try to amuse her by making movements as you shadow also make the same movements which will be fun to watch.

You can also practice shadow puppetry and make various shapes by using your hands and fingers.

You can also make a human face with your thumb making the bottom lip and the other fingers creating the top lip. Now make sounds, talk and sing to give her an amazing experience of a talking and singing shadow.

This will be an innovative way of developing the baby’s visual tracking skills.


Game 2: Wet Washcloth

Purpose: To support teething

When teething starts, keep a washcloth in the freezer for 15 minutes. Then, give it to the baby to bite. It will soothe baby’s gum when teething.


Game 3: Little Explorer

Purpose: To build awareness of space

Now, your baby learns to sit by own. You can do many activities together. Play with your baby with a ball on the floor.

Roll it to her and encourage the baby to roll. Encourage your baby to use both the hands to play with a toy and do not support it.

It helps the baby to strengthen the shoulder, muscle core and back.


Game 4: Command Excitement

Purpose: To develop listening skills

Allow your baby to grab and explore the items within the reach. It gives him or her the space to explore the environment. Also, you need to stay close to supervise.
