Pregnancy Checklist for Month 2

Last updated On August 2nd, 2020

If you have been planning to get pregnant, have been doing everything correctly and are lucky, this is the month when you will finally get the good news.

Of course, you might be aware that the sure shot indicator is that you miss your periods. If you have been track of the last time you got your period, this would definitely become easier.

However, even if you have an inkling of the date, it would be more than enough. You may want to wait for one week or more before thinking of confirming the news.

Here is a pregnancy checklist of things that you need to do or get in the second month of your pregnancy.

Pregnancy Testing Kit

If your menstrual cycle does not make an experience even after a couple of weeks of the expected date and if you are planning a pregnancy, it is time to use a pregnancy testing kit to get the news confirmed.

You can get this kit easily in any medical store and the test is quite easy. All you need is a sample of your urine.

  1. Collect a sample of your urine (preferably the first urine of the day)
  2. With a dropper put in a few drops into the small hole designated for the purpose on the kit
  3. Tilt the slide such that the urine flows into the slide
  4. Wait for a few seconds (sometimes you may have to wait for a minute or two)
  5. In the window, check for the number of lines that appear
  6. If there is only one line, it means you are not pregnant. However, if there are two lines, it is time for celebrations.
  7. If you see that the second line is faint, don’t worry. It still means you are pregnant

Fix an Appointment with the Doctor

Once you find out that you are pregnant, you need to meet your gynecologist at the earliest to understand the next course of action. So, the first thing you need to do is fix an appointment with her.

She may want to run the pregnancy test a second time to confirm the pregnancy. She may also request you for a blood sample for additional confirmation.

The doctor will prescribe you some multivitamin tablets, folic acid supplements and the like to help you through your pregnancy and ensure perfect development of your baby.

Diet

Now that you know that you are pregnant, you have to be extra careful about your diet. Avoid raw and uncooked meat. Steer clear of fishes that have high mercury content.

Include fresh fruits and vegetables in your daily diet. It is important that you cut down on caffeinated drinks and say no to alcohol and smoking.

Exercises

Just because you are expecting, there is no reason whatsoever to quit your fitness regime.

You may need to alter it by talking to your fitness instructor as pregnant women cannot participate in high impact fitness regimes.

It would be a good idea to join a yoga class. Doing Kegel exercises may also prove beneficial during pregnancy and child birth.

Prenatal Medicines

Do not forget to take any of the medicines that have been prescribed by the doctor. You have to be diligent in taking them every day and on time.

Share the Good News with your Husband

If you have not already told him, you can now let the father to be in on the great news. Think of an interesting way to break the news to him.

This checklist for pregnancy is sure to help you through the second month of your pregnancy.
